Students of BBA and MBA as well as teachers of IQ City United World School of Business celebrated the 164th Birth Anniversary of poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore with solemn reverence.
The event was a reminder for Tagore’s continued and universal relevance in the society. The legacy of Tagore’s poems, songs, dances, literature, art, education and social reforms continue to unite the present generation as it did in his times.
UWSB students produced a well-orchestrated event, highlighting some of Tagore’s works and their background. Performances of Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya and Geeti Alekhya (collage of songs and recitation) were highly appreciated by the audience.
The highlight of the program was an enactment of some scenes from Tagore’s play, Raktakarabi (Red Oleanders).
This year marks the centenary of publication of the play and has gained relevance in the current times. The play calls for love, peace and social harmony.
Some teachers also joined in the program, with talks about Tagore’s life and works as well as singing Rabindra Sangeet.
